    Night night!
  4. Netflix has closed Night School Studio, the developer behind the acclaimed Oxenfree series, along with Helsinki-based Moonloot Games. The decision was announced in mid-August 2026, just six weeks after Night School released its latest title, the Netflix exclusive Unhinged.Night School was acquired by Netflix in 2021 as the streaming company’s first major games studio purchase. The team is best known for the original Oxenfree (2016) and its sequel Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals (2023), both praised for their narrative-driven, atmospheric storytelling. Moonloot, founded in 2022, had not yet released a title and was reportedly working on an Animal Crossing-inspired project. A Netflix spokesperson explained the move as part of a broader effort to focus on kids’ games, party games, story-driven experiences with mainstream appeal, and titles optimized for television. Additional roles within Netflix’s internal games teams are also being eliminated, though exact numbers have not been disclosed. Next Games remains one of the few remaining internal studios. The closures highlight the challenges streaming platforms face when expanding into full-scale game development. While Unhinged was described by Netflix as one of its more successful cloud debuts, the company has chosen to streamline its games organization around more accessible, high-volume formats. Fans of Night School’s distinctive style of narrative adventure will be watching to see where the talent lands next.
  5. Check this new article in the blog regarding the NVIDIA DLSS5. What do you think about it?
  6. NVIDIA is preparing to launch DLSS 5 this fall, describing it as the company’s most significant graphics advancement since real-time ray tracing in 2018. Detailed further at SIGGRAPH 2026, the technology introduces a generative AI stage that enhances lighting, materials, shadows, reflections, and overall visual fidelity on top of a traditionally rendered game frame. Unlike previous DLSS versions focused primarily on upscaling and frame generation, DLSS 5 uses the game’s color and motion vectors as input and applies trained AI models to enrich the image while remaining grounded in the developer’s original geometry, lighting, and artistic intent. It supports three different models with varying levels of detail and impact, along with per-object and per-scene controls that give artists fine-grained direction over the final result. The system is designed to run in real time on a single GPU and maintain temporal stability across frames. Major publishers including Bethesda, Capcom, Ubisoft, Tencent, and others are already integrating support. Early demonstrations show clear gains in photorealism, particularly in complex materials and lighting scenarios, without requiring developers to rewrite their core rendering pipelines. DLSS 5 positions generative AI as an extension of traditional graphics rather than a replacement, giving creators new tools while preserving the control needed for consistent visual storytelling in games.
  7. New article coming up in the website! Epic Games announces that his launcher is coming natively to Linux. Do you think this will change the way we play games in Epic Games? Check everything out in our blog: https://eprotv.com/index.php?/entry/32-epic-games-launcher-coming-natively-to-linux/
  8. Today I’m going To Watch the new Spiderman movie. Let’s see if it’s nice or not!
  9. Epic Games has confirmed that a native Linux version of the Epic Games Launcher is in active development and expected “soon.” The update came during a community Discord AMA on August 13, 2026, where a staff member responded to questions about Linux support for the redesigned launcher. The new launcher framework moves away from Unreal Engine toward Tauri. While the upcoming preview release will not include Linux support, Epic noted that additional work beyond a simple native build is required to deliver a polished experience. This development is particularly welcome for Steam Deck owners and Linux desktop users who currently rely on third-party solutions such as the Heroic Games Launcher combined with Proton. A native launcher will simplify access to Epic’s free weekly games, sales, and library without workarounds. It does not immediately guarantee native Linux versions of every title, but it represents a clear step toward better platform support. GOG is pursuing similar native Linux efforts for its own client, suggesting a broader industry trend toward improved compatibility outside Windows. For the growing number of players using handheld PCs and Linux-based systems, this confirmation removes one of the last major barriers to convenient Epic Games Store access.

  11. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is now available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S after launching on August 13, 2026. Developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, the standalone title brings the series’ signature large-scale, hardcore multiplayer combat to the Vietnam War. Players engage in intense 50-versus-50 battles across six launch maps that capture the conflict’s varied environments. These include dense jungles, remote villages, waterways, open terrain, and the iconic Thanh Hóa Bridge. Success depends on coordinated squad play, clear communication, and tactical decision-making rather than individual run-and-gun action. Early player numbers have been strong, with concurrent users nearly tripling peaks from the original Hell Let Loose. The development team used open beta feedback to refine performance, stability, VOIP, audio, early progression, NVA tunnel balancing, and console visuals ahead of launch. Post-launch support continues with further improvements already in the pipeline. The game emphasizes authenticity and immersion, requiring players to establish supply lines, capture objectives, and work as a unit under the pressure of realistic combat conditions. Available in both digital and physical editions on console, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam offers a demanding but rewarding experience for fans of tactical shooters looking for something deeper than typical multiplayer fare.
  12. Nintendo has confirmed a global price revision for the Nintendo Switch 2, set to take effect on September 1, 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The change follows earlier adjustments already implemented in Japan and reflects ongoing pressures in the hardware market. In the US, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price rises from $449.99 to $499.99. Canada sees an increase from $629.99 to $679.99, while Europe moves from €469.99 to €499.99. Nintendo stated the revisions respond to “various changes in market conditions” expected to continue over the medium to long term, including component costs and supply-chain challenges linked to broader industry demand for memory and chips. In-store demo kiosks in the US have already begun displaying the new $499.99 price between sessions, giving shoppers clear advance notice. The original Nintendo Switch family of systems remains unaffected by these particular changes in most Western markets. Nintendo has sold more than 23.6 million Switch 2 units worldwide as of the end of June 2026, though the company has adjusted its future sales forecasts downward slightly in light of the higher pricing. Fans still have a limited window to purchase at the current price before September 1. Some retailers continue to offer limited-time bundles that include a game, providing extra value during this transition period. Nintendo expressed appreciation for player support while acknowledging the impact the increase may have on customers. This marks the first major price adjustment for the Switch 2 since its launch and aligns with similar moves seen across the industry from other console and hardware makers facing the same market realities.

  14. Check out our new blog for today, it's about the earthquakes that had place yesterday, in Indonesia with a 7.7, and in Granada, Spain, with a 5.0-5.2. All the info here: What do you think about this? It's a big disaster, specially for Indonesia! Hope it doesn't go worse.
  15. A Major Seismic Day: The August 14, 2026, Earthquakes and Their Impacts On Friday, August 14, 2026 (UTC), the world experienced elevated seismic activity, dominated by a powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake near Indonesia’s Flores Island and a series of strong aftershocks, alongside a notable magnitude 5.0–5.2 event in southern Spain. Global monitoring networks recorded hundreds of earthquakes that day, with activity classified as extreme in some summaries due to the energy released by the Indonesian sequence. While most events were minor and caused little disruption, the largest ones highlighted ongoing risks in tectonically active regions along the Pacific Ring of Fire and elsewhere. The Flores Sea Magnitude 7.7 Earthquake The day’s most significant event struck at 21:58 UTC on August 14 (approximately 5:58 a.m. local time on August 15 in the Makassar time zone) about 68 km north-northwest of Ende in East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded it as magnitude 7.7 at a shallow depth of 10 km. It resulted from reverse (thrust) faulting in a region of convergence between the Australian and Sunda plates. The earthquake produced strong to severe shaking (Modified Mercalli Intensity VI–VIII or higher in places) felt by an estimated 1.5 million people. Approximately 56,000 experienced severe shaking, hundreds of thousands felt very strong or strong motion, and millions more felt moderate to light effects across East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, and parts of South Sulawesi. Shaking lasted around one minute in some areas. A tsunami warning was issued by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for coastal areas in multiple provinces based on modeling. Small tsunami waves under 1 meter were recorded at several sites (highest around 0.94 m in one location). The warning was lifted roughly three hours later after monitoring confirmed no major threat. Impacts and severity: The shallow depth and proximity to populated areas amplified effects. Official and rescue reports indicated a death toll of at least 14 according to Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as of midday updates (three in Sikka, six in Manggarai, five in East Manggarai), with some local rescuers and media citing around 20 fatalities in and around Maumere and other towns, primarily from collapsing structures while people slept. Injuries included at least two serious and 11 minor cases in multiple regencies, with additional reports of people trapped under rubble. About 2,000 residents evacuated to safer ground amid the shaking and initial tsunami alert. Damage included dozens of homes (preliminary figures: 54 heavily damaged, nine moderately, 11 lightly), plus impacts to health facilities, schools, warehouses, places of worship, and government offices. Landslides blocked roads (complicating access to hard-hit areas like Nagekeo), power outages occurred, and buildings partially collapsed in places such as ports and villages. USGS assessments indicated some casualties and localized damage were possible, with extensive landslide potential in the region and vulnerable building stock contributing to impacts. Economic losses were expected to remain relatively limited on a national scale. A vigorous aftershock sequence followed almost immediately, including events of magnitude 6.2, 6.1, 5.9, 5.6, and others in the magnitude 5 range within the first hour, plus numerous smaller shocks continuing into the next day. USGS aftershock forecasts indicated a high likelihood of further magnitude 5+ events and a non-negligible chance of additional magnitude 6+ shocks in the following week. This event ranks among the stronger earthquakes of 2026 to that point and underscores the high seismic hazard in Indonesia, a country sitting on complex plate boundaries. Historical context includes a destructive 1992 magnitude 7.8 quake nearby that caused thousands of fatalities. Other Notable Activity Later on August 14 (around 23:04 UTC, or just after 1 a.m. local time on August 15), a shallow magnitude 5.0–5.2 earthquake struck near Alhendín/Otura, south of Granada in Andalucia, Spain. It was widely felt across the Granada metropolitan area and into multiple Spanish provinces (and reported as far as parts of Extremadura and beyond). Intensity reached V–VI in the epicentral zone. Impacts were primarily material: damage to buildings (facades, debris), cars, and some infrastructure, with emergency services responding to rescues from damaged structures and power cuts in places. No injuries or fatalities were reported. Authorities declared an emergency phase, advised caution around buildings, and noted aftershocks. This followed smaller activity in the same area earlier. While far less severe than the Indonesian event, it caused disruption in a tourist-heavy region and highlighted Europe’s seismic risks in active zones. Worldwide, networks recorded one magnitude 7+, a couple of magnitude 6+, around a dozen magnitude 5+, and dozens of magnitude 4+ events on or closely associated with August 14 (plus thousands of smaller ones). Other moderate quakes occurred in places such as the Solomon Islands, Japan region, Azerbaijan, and the Philippines, but none approached the Indonesian sequence in impact. Overall Severity and Broader Context The August 14 activity was dominated by the Indonesian mainshock and aftershocks, which released the bulk of the day’s seismic energy and caused the only reported fatalities and significant structural damage. Severity was moderate-to-high locally in East Nusa Tenggara due to the magnitude, shallow depth, building vulnerability, and secondary hazards (landslides, temporary tsunami concerns), yet impacts remained relatively contained compared to historical megathrust events in the region. The Spanish quake added a secondary focus of disruption without loss of life. These events serve as reminders of the persistent global earthquake risk, particularly in subduction and convergence zones. Rapid warning systems, building codes, public preparedness, and monitoring (via agencies like USGS, BMKG, and national networks) play critical roles in mitigating harm. Rescue and assessment efforts continued in Indonesia into August 15 as aftershocks persisted and full damage inventories were compiled. Residents in affected or high-risk areas are advised to follow official guidance, secure homes, and stay informed through reliable seismic alerts.
