After a couple of quiet years, BlizzCon is finally returning in 2026 and the energy already feels different. Blizzard is treating this one like a proper homecoming, and fans have been waiting a long time for it. When and where it happens: BlizzCon 2026 takes place on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Same venue as the classic years, same two-day format. Tickets went on sale late last year through Tixr. Early-bird passes were $249.99 and standard ones $289.99. Both sold out quickly, which wasn’t a surprise. There’s still a resale market on Tixr if you’re determined, but prices are high. Charity Night and Darkmoon Faire After Hours add-ons also sold out.Good news if you can’t make the trip: the Opening Ceremony and major panels will be livestreamed for free on Blizzard’s official channels (Twitch, YouTube, and BlizzCon.com). No paid virtual ticket this time. What we already know is happening: Blizzard has confirmed the usual staples are back: Opening Ceremony with “major” announcements Hands-on play for World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, Hearthstone and Diablo Immortal Darkmoon Faire Community Night A full esports slate including Overwatch World Cup Finals, WoW Arena World Championship, Mythic Dungeon International, Hearthstone Masters Tour, and a brand-new Blizzard Classic Cup with legacy matches (Tasteless and Artosis are captaining) LE SSERAFIM is also performing on the main stage on Sunday as the closing act. Digital bundles are already live on the Battle.net shop until September 28. Attendees get the full Ultimate Collection automatically. Everyone else can buy individual game packs or the big one for $49.99. There are even a couple of freebies for Heroes of the Storm and StarCraft II players. What people are actually expecting: This is Blizzard’s 35th anniversary year, and the company has been calling 2026 its “biggest year yet.” World of Warcraft’s Midnight expansion is already out or very close, Diablo is celebrating 30 years, and Overwatch hits its 10th anniversary. Most of the serious speculation centers on: A proper look at whatever comes after Midnight for WoW The next big Diablo IV season or expansion after Lord of Hatred Something meaningful for Overwatch’s anniversary (new hero, mode, or big balance pass) Possible StarCraft or Heroes of the Storm love, given the Classic Cup focus No one knows the exact reveals yet, but the tone from Blizzard leadership has been unusually confident.If you’re going in person, get there early for the Opening Ceremony – seating in Hall D is first-come, first-served. If you’re watching from home, clear your weekend. It’s been a long wait, and this one feels like it might actually deliver.
