The Game Awards 2026 Officially Set for December 10

Geoff Keighley has confirmed the date for the next edition of gaming’s biggest night.

The Game Awards 2026 will take place on Thursday, December 10, live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The announcement came earlier this year and was recently reinforced with a fresh countdown post from the official The Game Awards account, reminding fans that tickets and more details will arrive this fall.

Last year’s show set a new viewership record with over 171 million global livestreams. With 2026 shaping up as one of the strongest years for major releases — including Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19 — expectations are already sky-high.

Eligibility cutoffs typically fall a few weeks before the show. If the pattern from previous years holds, games released by around mid-to-late November could still qualify, putting GTA 6 in a fascinating position.

As always, the event will feature Game of the Year nominations, major world premieres, and performances. More information, including the full list of categories and ticket sales, is expected in the coming months.
